ABOUT CWTC
INSPIRING EXCELLENCE
China World Trade Center (hereinafter referred to as “CWTC” or “China World”) is located at the heart of Beijing’s Central Business District, within the International Business Service Area of China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone. Covering 17 hectares of land and totaling 1,120,000 square meters of floor space, CWTC is composed of offices, malls, hotels and apartments. It is an iconic complex in Beijing and one of the largest upmarket commercial mixed-use developments in China and the world. CWTC hosts hundreds of prestigious multinational corporations and global high-end retail stores, and stages major domestic and international conferences and commercial events. It has received countless heads of state, government officials, leaders of international organizations, business magnates and celebrities. Playing a unique role in shaping consumption trends, attracting investments and promoting international exchanges, CWTC has made significant contributions to China’s reform and opening-up and earned its reputation as “a showcase of China’s reform and opening-up process”.
Its story began in 1984. The contract and the articles of association for the joint-venture development and operation of CWTC were signed in the Great Hall of the People, Beijing on November 17, 1984. China World Trade Center (the name of the company was changed to “China World Trade Center Ltd.” in 1994, hereinafter referred to as CWTC Ltd.) was formally established in February 1985 with approval from the State Council. CWTC Phase 1, a 420,000-square-meter floor area project with a total investment of US$520 million, opened on August 30, 1990. In 1999, China World Trade Center Co., Ltd., solely established by CWTC Ltd., was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (stock short name “China World”, stock code 600007), providing new momentum for CWTC’s rapid development. In the same year, CWTC Phase 2 was completed to meet growing market demand, bringing CWTC’s total floor space to 560,000 square meters and raising service and management standards.
With the completion of Phase 3A in August 2010 and Phase 3B in April 2017, CWTC entered a new stage of development: The 330-meter China World Tower A contains grade-A offices and the five-star China World Summit Wing hotel. The 296-meter China World Tower B consists of offices and Hotel Jen with enhanced dining, shopping, culture, leisure and recreation services. Over the course of more than 40 years’ construction and development, China World Trade Center has constantly excelled and surpassed itself, spurring rapid growth in the surrounding economy and propelling the Beijing CBD, with CWTC at its core, into a dynamic business district and a new consumption destination. China World Trade Center, a world-renowned “city within a city”, has become a paragon of world-class business service hub.

While generating strong economic returns, CWTC has sought to fulfill its social responsibility under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. It has injected vitality into rural development, ignited hope for educational advancement, rallied strength for disaster relief, and sustained momentum for public welfare. Since the establishment of a dedicated charitable fund in 2009, CWTC has contributed tens of millions of yuan. Responding to national initiatives, CWTC will donate continuously to rural revitalization, education, disaster relief, culture and sports and public welfare, mobilizing greater strength to assume its corporate responsibility in the new era.

Looking forward, China World Trade Center will focus on building an “excellent China World” by adding more cultural, sci-tech and green elements and creating spaces for new experience; bring a “trendy China World” in bloom by targeting at high quality brands and leading the trends of consumption; exhibit a “vigorous China World” through higher level of opening-up and enhancement of competitiveness; build a “green China World” by pursuing sustainable development and fulfilling social responsibility; promote the development of a “digital China World” by means of scientific and technical applications to build an intelligent ecosystem. With the mission of serving guests from all over the world and promoting China’s opening-up and international exchange, China World Trade Center will be committed to building a new landmark of international consumption and a new frontier for the propagation of Chinese culture and developing a brand with global status and influence, making new contributions to fostering Beijing as an international consumption hub and writing a new chapter in the business sector of Chinese modernization.
